ALCOM's 5 Favorite Breathtaking Canadian Snowmobile Destinations

A group of snowmobile riders ready to depart from a snowy cabin

When you’re planning a Canadian snowmobile adventure for winter 2025/2026, one of the most important questions to answer is: where will you be staying at the end of each adrenaline-pumping day on the trails?

When you’re riding near home, it’s easy to head for your house and stop to fuel up and grab some food on the way. When you’re exploring a new place, nothing beats having a safe, secure, and comfortable place to rest. It’s even better if that comfortable place has secure snowmobile parking, fuel nearby, and easy access to snowmobile parts and service in the event of a breakdown.

Luckily, there are plenty of places like this along the Great Canadian Snowmobile Trail! While you’re planning your next Canadian sled adventure, check out some of the best accommodations along the trail. We’re not just talking about a trailside motel with a mini fridge and basic cable – although sometimes that’s exactly what you need – but instead, we’re diving into some of the best accommodations a snowmobiler can find in Canada’s winter wonderland. Since we're riding across the border between ALCOM's home state of Maine and our closest Canadian neighbors in Quebec, we'll start there -- in one of the snowiest places in North America, and home to thousands of miles of snowmobile trails waiting to be explored.

About the Area

Central Canada, which includes the vast provinces of Ontario and Quebec, is a snowmobiler's paradise. In Quebec alone, you'll find 33,000 km of snowmobile trails. Not far behind, Ontario's 32,000 km of trails is just as accessible and exciting for riders who want to put some serious miles on their sleds. To be trail legal in Quebec, you need a permit, plus your usual documents like a driver's license, proof of registration and insurance for all vehicles.

(1) Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu – Charlevoix, Quebec

For luxurious guest rooms and high-end amenities, the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu is a stunning choice. Located in the Charlevoix region, it is surrounded by an expansive network of trails, and after the trail system opens (typically in mid-December), riders enjoy the region’s historically exceptional snowfall. Amenities include: a snowmobile rental center; indoor heated parking for snowmobiles; outdoor trailer parking; on-site restaurants and casino; on-site wellness center with outdoor and indoor pools and hot tubs.

(2)  Hôtel Universel Rivière-du-Loup – Rivière-du-Loup, Québec

This beautiful property is operated with snowmobilers in mind, with access directly from the snowmobile trails, plus multiple parking options. Rent a garage space (with optional heat) for your sleds or use the property’s gated lot for snowmobiles and trailers. Garage rental is $10/day ($25/day additional charge for heat), while the gated outdoor lot is free to use for hotel guests, and monitored by security cameras. The hotel also features on-site restaurants, a pool with waterslide and hot tub, and a spa offering facials, massage, and more. With 300 rooms and suites, the hotel is a great place to call home base while you ride all day and rest each night.

(3) Comfort Inn Mont-Laurier – Mont-Laurier, Québec

For a classic, trusted name that won’t break the budget, check out the Comfort Inn. Located just off the Trans-Canada Highway, the Mont-Laurier location even has snowmobile trails accessible from the parking lot. While you won’t find indoor parking here, the exterior lot has surveillance security. Comfort Inn also has an onsite sports bar, a sauna and fitness center, and offers pet-friendly rooms. Food and fuel options are available nearby in .

(4) Auberge le Cabanon – Saint-Zenon, Lanaudière, Québec

Welcome to the headquarters of the snowmobile kingdom! Auberge le Cabanon is an ideal destination for snowmobile adventure seekers. Access more than 750 km of snowmobile trails from the Auberge, where groomers from the Club Royaume de la motoneige depart every day to maintain trail conditions. The Auberge offers on site fuel and secure sled parking, plus amenities like an on-site restaurant and bar, heated indoor swimming pool and hot tub, a laundry room and lake views.

(5) Ferme 5 Étoiles Holiday Center – Sacré-Cœur, Québec

Searching for a more rustic experience? La Ferme 5 Étoiles Holiday Center is a one-of-a-kind destination, operating a wildlife refuge, on-site sled dog kennel, and a sugar shack. A Pre-Trip Refresher

Before setting out for a new adventure across the border, get yourself and your sled prepared for the journey with a pre-trip inspection. Make sure your trailer and snowmobiles are in good condition and ready to roll, stocked with a spare tire, emergency supplies, and all of your paperwork for the trip (like trail permits, registration and insurance).
